Experimental setup. Cryopreserved ovarian cortex tissue from 20 patients was thawed and cut into two halves with one half receiving needle puncturing and the other half serving as the untreated control. The cortex pieces were xenografted to immunodeficient mice. Grafts was retrieved after 3, 6 and 10 days (N = 8) for immunohistochemistry and gene expression analysis, and after 4 weeks for histological analysis of follicle density and morphology.
